苗栗縣公館鄉前鄉長謝桂麟與前妻何琇珍收受廠商回扣45萬3000元，分別被判刑14年及12年確定，2人分赴海外逃亡，謝10年前回台被逮，妻子逃亡美國16年，期間還取得洛杉磯西來大學宗教學博士，去年學生簽證到期，調查局請求美移民及海關執法局逮人，昨押解回台歸案，發監執行。

何琇珍昨被帶回苗栗縣調查站，調查員招待她暌違16年的家鄉味，品嘗水煎包和豆漿後直說好吃。她否認逃亡，強調是1999年4月初到洛杉磯探望臥病的姑姑，案件當月底才判決確定。

何女供稱，她以學生簽證滯美，期間獨自租屋自理生活，生活費是靠擔任當地中學生中文課家教，每月掙取2500美金維生，並取得碩、博士學位，自給自足。

謝桂麟1994年擔任公館鄉長任內，藉整建工程與妻子何琇珍共同收取回扣45萬3000元，1999年與妻子分別遭判刑14年、12年確定。謝宣判前潛逃出境，2006年自印尼搭機返國遭逮發監執行，已於2011年假釋出獄。

何琇珍比丈夫早半個多月逃往國外，但調查局查出，何持觀光簽證入境美國，隨後報考由佛光山星雲大師成立的西來大學博士班，順利取得學生簽證，16年間還成功取得宗教碩、博士學位，直到去年簽證過期才被逮，歷經移民法庭審理，日前裁定遣返。

（中央社記者陳葦庭台北14日電）花蓮外海從11時12分起發生多次地震，以11時32分發生的芮氏規模4.8最大，宜蘭南澳及花蓮和平、太魯閣最大震度都是4級。

今天上午11時12分，花蓮近海發生芮氏規模4.4地震，花蓮和平和宜蘭南澳最大震度4級。11時19分同樣在花蓮近海又發生規模3.9地震，11時22分在秀林鄉接著發生規模3.8地震。
